Recommendations
There are many resources, books, magazines, websites, and other materials to help kids read and have fun reading. Libraries have many children's books and printed magazine subscriptions that you can read in the library or check out.
Resources
Bookopolis is a free online community for kids 7 to 12 years old to find books and connect with other kids. Kids can rate and review books, find reading pals, use a reading log, and make connections between a variety of books.
Read Works is a free website with passages for K-12 level. The passages are stories, poems, and informational writing in subjects like science, social studies, and art. It also includes lessons and comprehension questions about the reading passage.
Storyline Online is a free website that has children's books read by famous actors. The videos begin with the reader, but then switch to the book's illustrations with some animation. Each story also includes activities and lesson ideas.
Library book sales are a great way to get children's books. Public libraries receive book donations which are sold for reasonable prices (usually $1 or less) at library book sales sponsored by Friends of the Library volunteer groups. The money you spend at these these sales helps to support the library.

Book Lists
Children's Choices Reading List from the International Literacy Association has a list of children's books picked by kids. Each year they make a list of books and include a picture of the cover and a short description of each book.

John Newbery Medal Books are books that have received awards from the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. The website lists books and their authors that have received the award from 1922 to the present for their distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

100 Great Children's Books is a list of children's books chosen by the children's librarians at the New York Public Library. The website lists books by title in alphabetical order and their authors, year of publication, and a sentence describing the book.
